Judge Angela Jewell (Pro Tem Judge\, Second Judicial District Court)\, Jazzai Jimerson\, Esq. (Law Clerk\, New Mexico Court of Appeals)\, and Dominique Oliver\, Esq. (Attorney\, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP)\n3-4 PM: Perspectives on Practice: Black Male Attorneys in the Southwest (1.0 Ethics/Professionalism Credit)\, panel discussion by Dean Alfred Mathewson (Former Dean\, UNM School of Law)\, Frank Davis\, Esq. DESCRIPTION:Facing the Rising Sun: The Journey of African American Homesteaders in New Mexico\, Vision\, Belief\, and Sovereign Ownership is a high-tech mobile exhibit hosted at the Albuquerque Museum which tells the story and honors the legacy of the first African American families to homestead New Mexico.Description:\nFacing the Rising Sun is a partnership between the African American Museum & Cultural Center of New Mexico (AAMCCNM) and the City of Albuquerque Department of Arts and Culture\, with design and fabrication by Electric Playhouse. The story of African American settlement in New Mexico revolves around federal legislation that helped families through various homesteading acts beginning in 1862.
